Wing Shooting

Our dove fields which consist of a planted variety of millets and covered crops are managed solely for dove hunting.

Your hunt begins by meeting at our office or camp to register all hunters at noon.  Once this is completed, our guides will take you by truck to the fields where they will position you in a pre-built blind.  You must stay put in this location for safety measures and out of respect for other hunters.  You will need to remain as still as possible to help keep the birds from flaring off as they approach.  We have cleaning facilities accessible to clean the birds, once you are transported back to our camp.  We are happy to help if you need assistance in cleaning the birds.

It is necessary for all hunters to have in their possession a hunting license and a migratory bird permit.  The permit is a new condition as of the 97-98 season.  All hunters are required to be well-informed of migratory game bird regulations.  We assume no responsibility for persons found in violation of such regulations.

We recommend that you wear a camouflage shirt and pants or dark blue jeans or other long pants and perhaps a camouflage hat.  Please do not wear anything light in color, since we do not want to have the birds flare before they are in range of other hunters.

Seeing as the birds will be sometimes pretty high we advise the use of twenty or twelve gauge shotguns for this hunt.  We suggest a minimum of three boxes of shot shells per-person, per day # eight’s low brass.  Whereas hunting migratory game birds, shotguns must be restricted to a three-shell capacity.

You will require a cooler for your birds and maybe something to sit on between flights of birds.  The use of decoys is permitted and encouraged, particularly on the days of low hunter turnout.  We suggest that you bring bug spray with you to the fields as it can be bad as the sun begins to set.   A small cooler with drinks is allowed to carry to the fields.  Once the hunt has finished we allow the consumption of alcoholic beverages.

We allow clients to bring their dogs to the dove shoots.

We permit children to take part in the dove shoots.  One child to each paid hunter.  There are requirements by the state in order for children under 16 to take part in hunting activities.  The state hunter safety course is one of the requirements.  After the conclusion of the course, the state requires children under 16 to be in hands reach of the firearm by their parent or guardian while in possession of a firearm.

We have no control over the weather so please bring rain gear with you to the shoots.  If bad weather approaches and moves in, we will attempt to remove all shooters wishing to leave as soon as possible at the hunter discretion.  We hope that inclement weather does not hinder the shoot; however if it is going to be awful on a specific shoot we will cancel the shoot.

We will let you know what time the shoot concludes when we place you in the field.  This is usually about 30 minutes before sunset, but will vary from shoot to shoot since we have to transport all of the people out of the field safely.

Opening weekend is Saturday, October 6, 2007.

$100 per hunter and $85 per hunter for parties of five or more.

Duck Hunting

Wetland habitat covers an immense expanse of Florida, which makes it a remarkable place to hunt ducks.  Huge numbers of migratory ducks winter in Florida, predominantly ring-necked ducks, scaup, teal, wood ducks and wigeon.  The mottled duck (a.k.a. Florida duck), wood duck, black-bellied whistling suck and fulvous whistling duck reside in the state year round.

We have numerous blinds located in outstanding areas which we rotate shooting pressure.  Our goal is not to shoot a blind more that once per week.  Our blinds our positioned in ankle-deep water as well as dry ground.  While most of our blinds are for two shooters, we do have single hunter blinds on hand.

These hunts are normally tremendous duck hunts.  We have had shooters limit on birds from these blinds in a morning.  Since all of the blinds are pre-scouted prior to hunts, we will only shoot from them if there are plenty of ducks.

Our public water hunts are conducted in and around waters situated north of Okeechobee in addition to the Florida Everglades, which are normally pre-scouted and located prior to the hunt.

Season dates are usually for early teal the final week of September and the general season begins the weekend before Thanksgiving and concludes late January.

We charge $200 per-person per hunt.  A $100 deposit is required.

There is no guide fee; however a $100 deposit is required on all hunting packages.
